Economic and national security policy have become inextricably linked in the “new era” of global unrest, meaning Australia and its allies must move from a “just in time” model of supply of vital goods, to one of “just in case”, Scott Morrison says.
With the uncertainties of the risk of a new stain of COVID still remaining.
Mr Morrison nominates as supply chain priorities semiconductors, agricultural chemicals, water treatment chemicals, telecommunications equipment, plastics, pharmaceuticals and personal protective equipment (PPE).
“I would encourage businesses to continue to work with the government to ensure early identification and timely responses to supply chain challenges,” he will say.
